Hugo Weaving as V. Hrm. V For Vendetta is (damning with faint praise) probably Moore's most filmable work. And I don't doubt that Weaving can pull this off. On the minus side, it's in the hands of the Wachowski brothers, and I just can't see Natalie Portman as Evey Hammond.

IMDb sez release date is set for November 4. Sounds like a good reason to put off going to see it for a day.

Also, from Scott: I thought Alan Moore didn't want any of his stuff filmed because League sucked so much?

(If they butcher Watchmen I am going to be pissed. Or if someone thinks Promethea would be good as a movie, which thankfully is unlikely to EVER happen)

I really don't know. The last thing I heard Alan Moore say w/r/t filmed versions of his works was right around the time of League; dunno if it was before or after he saw the finished product. That was along the lines of 'they give me money, and from then on it's out of my hands. But they can't destroy the original, in any case.'

To the left, he /did/ have his name removed entirely from Constantine.

. . . aha. Uncle Google sez he gave up on Hollywood after a screenwriter sued him for plagiarising his (the writer's) ideas for the League movie, ignoring the fact that the movie was based on a four-year-old comic. I think the V deal [and one involving Watchmen as well] had been struck prior to that, though.
