No, Walden's in the mall does not have Unfit for Command. We don't have it because corporate didn't send us any. I, personally, suspect that this is because Regnery, being a small press, either couldn't keep up with or vastly underestimated demand, and corporate thus sent their limited supply to places they expected would sell.

When you accuse us of having political motivations for not carrying the book, you are engaging in rampant ideological blindness of the worst kind. We carry a pretty well-balanced collection of political books. Currently we've got a lot of Michael Moore because, guess what? After F-9/11 came out he became a big seller. We had a lot of Hannity and O'Reilly when they first came out as well. Hell, we've got Michelle Malkin's screed about how all the hanky-heads ought to be locked up just like the Japs during WWII.

Let me 'splain something to you.

Conservatives are sick of walking into bookstores (OW MY HEAD) and then getting sneered at when they ask for a book by a conservative author. I am not saying you do it. It is something that has been going on for years and so the assumption is there that Walden Books is a bunch of commie pinkos. :)

As for Michelle Malkin's book - have you READ it? I think before you judge the book you should learn a little more about from where Michelle comes and why she is so harsh in her writings.

Certainly a good idea- but in this case, it's hardly enough to excuse Malkin. While I won't presume to speak for Tucker, I doubt he'd argue with me.

*shrug* Then that's a bad bookseller and should be reported to the manager, and possibly higher up the corporate ladder. But that would take, you know, effort; much easier to get indignant and snarky later, at a wholly inappropriate time. [Why yes, I /do/ speak from somewhat-related experience; why do you ask? As I recall I got told I was being dumb, and apologised.]

If you're going to call the store and ask for the book, and listen to my explanation about how corporate sent their limited stock to Borders where it would sell instead of to Waldens where it wouldn't, and then say "Oh, so it's /political/," then I'm going to think you're a complete fucking idiot, and [far from being disappointed at losing a customer] be relieved that in your idiocy you will now boycott my store, because now I won't have to deal with you.

I've not read Malkin's book, but I /have/ read Eric Muller and Greg Robinson's comments on it, as well as her responses and their responses, etc. [It was early August and I was bored.] On the one hand, perhaps I should read the book before I bash it; on the other, I don't think anything in my statement above was inaccurate, and I'm willing to rely on other people's opinions to steer me away from the obvious crap.
