Feeling the pressure of time again, but not really so badly. I'm mostly just Uninspired. Reading some Dark Ages White Wolf books in preparation for DA Fae, playing video games, slowly doing homework. I'm pretty sure the Sick has been replaced with springtime allergies (stupid spring. Give me a nice brisk fall day anytime). Eating plenty of Cadbury eggs.

. . . really, I've been rather boring the last week or so. Month or so. Whatever.

Yup. That's a good one.

Telling Exegetics stories over lunch has given me a bad case of nostalgia. I say bad because no one else gets it. ndkid, on the other hand: "That was the highest low morale I've ever seen." Everyone's too focused on how the story ended, we're too focused on how the story ended, to remember why we cared about its ending so much in the first place.

When I start thinking about why I cared I start getting bitter. At Exegetics there were several people who wanted a different ending but were squashed from On High. At Syncad people wanted to be seen as caring about the quality of the software without actually having to care about it. This isn't so different from On High's attitude at Exegetics, it's just wearing a different suit.

Nothing-- and I do mean nothing-- kills my enthusiasm faster than the realisation that No One Cares. I find this to be bad for my soul. So, I focus on the "and then we all got shafted due to our small-minded boss" part of the story.

Simply getting driven out of a job by an idiot would not have changed my life. My life is changed, I am pleased, this sequence of events makes no sense without the 'before' picture. But to each their own.

And yes, VirPack On High isn't much different. They lay the fake quality on a bit thicker, but in the end the difference between them and SynCad is that SynCad couldn't fool me three years ago. Which isn't much of a difference, really.

It doesn't help any, but just so you know, the VirPack gelled subculture laments its lack of other disciplines almost daily. And I'll still be disappointed when it goes the way of the Exegetics gelled subculture, but I won't miss it the same way.
