<sarcasm>Wait, you mean Technicon staff are unwilling to listen to other people, and believe they know everything? I bet you've got some bad news for me about the Pope, too.<sarcasm>
Just takes the right touch - Lisa mentioned it to James in a phone conversation and it's all taken care of - hopefully he'll spread it to anyone else who was pronouncing it incorrectly.
So... Dave or I correct them, and it's ignoreville, but a card-carrying Good Old Boy from Japan makes the merest suggestion, and they jump to change their ways? Hmm....
No actually at first Crys thought James blew off the sugguestion of Brust altogether, so I wrote a vaguely nasty note to James and Ron, and got a REALLY nasty response, to the tune of "find someone in Japan who cares".
It has entirely to do with the approach. You're just demonizing to support your own opinion.
I called James Dunson to say hello (it's been awhile since we last talked). Vond and Ross had mentioned the Brhust vs Broost problem. So, as I've found, the best way to bring up something like that with James Dunson is to bring it up directly (but to approach him privately). I said that I'd heard that perhaps people had been pronouncing the new author guest's last name incorrectly. I asked if he knew how to pronounce it and he sounded unsure. So I told him the proper way. And then I sent him this email encouraging him to find out the facts himself and not to just take my word for it.

I don't want you saying "lisa" or even "someone" told me the correct way to pronounce Brust.. I think you should check it out on your own :) here's a link to his homepage (and interesting place!) And I highly suggest his Vlad series (where there IS a pronunciation guide for his last name).
