Yeah, there's definitely a lot of autism/ADD overlap. I tend to think of it as 'autism' rather than 'AD(H)D' because from the inside it (usually) doesn't feel like an inability to focus, quite the opposite.

On the other hand, I was actually diagnosed ADD in elementary school. I tend to discount that because 1) supposedly I 'grew out of it', 2) my admittedly terrible first therapist in high school ran a test that said I didn't have ADD because I could hyperfocus, and 3) I generally don't have most of the classic AD(H)D symptoms: object permanence, no hyperactivity, generally able to keep track of what I'm doing next, etc. But it's entirely plausible that I do have ADD and I've managed it through a combination of caffeine, white-knuckled iron will, and a ton of anxiety.

To expand a bit on what I said to Sherwood above, I am really curious as to what shakes out regarding the overlap between ADHD, autism, and other neurodivergence stuff, because the overlaps are significant.
