jazzfishBack home again. There appears to have been a nationwide Westjet computer system outage yesterday. I cooled my heels at the airport for seven hours watching my flight get bumped back and bumped back, until they finally just up and cancelled it and sent us home. Got myself rebooked for 9:15 this morning. Got a hotel room in Prince George for Erin, who'd driven the two hours to come get me, and went home to snuggle / be ignored by the cat.
I showed back up at the airport shortly before eight to a massive line of Westjet customers. I was worried about not getting baggage checked in time for the flight but I needn't have; it got cancelled a little after eight. They rebooked me onto a noon flight, without bothering to tell me so, which caused some amount of stress trying to coordinate with Erin on the other end. Got checked in and went and hung out in the fancy lounge for a few hours. I wandered down to the gate around twenty minutes before takeoff, where they were not yet boarding the plane. Twenty minutes later that one was cancelled too. At that point, since I'd missed the entire weekend, I just gave up and got my ticket refunded and came home.
Bah. This on the heels of not going to see Erin in October due to some workstuff. Stupid, stupid Westjet. I've filed for the $1000 compensation that they're legally obligated to provide for flight delays that are under their control (there's a limited list of "not under their control," which worked in their favor last year for "the de-icer at Prince George broke so planes can't land there" but is unlikely to do so this time). I expect I will have to fight for it. Bah and double bah.
Gonna see about rescheduling this evening but right now I just want to turn my brain off and not think about things.
