less weather than otherwise

I've been running the cold robot more or less constantly all week, thanks to the 30+ temps that are projected to stick around through at least Sunday. The apartment, or at least the living room, has generally remained below 25C, which is what I need to continue to function. Meanwhile I still feel like I'm getting mugged by the air whenever I walk into the hallway outside.
Something I had somehow not realised: an air conditioner is basically a dehumidifier with extra bits. This year I've hooked up a hose to the main dehumidifier reservoir. I'm using my 6qt Instant Pot pot to catch the water.
I'm emptying it three times a day. That's about a litre of water removed from the air every hour.
(At night I use a Rubbermaid storage tub. I don't use it during the day because I know me: I'd be tempted to just let it sit all day and then it would be too heavy to move without spilling.)
I am extremely impressed by my little cold robot.

Date: 2022-07-29 09:51 am (UTC)We love our dehumidifier. During the heatwave (and the water usage warning that accompanied it), I used the water it gathered to water my poor plants!
Our dehumidifier is called Clarence, but I love the idea of getting an air conditioner and referring to it solely as the cold robot. Hmmmmmm.
