I would certainly believe that. (If so it's handled way better than Heinlein's "Number of the Beast.")

Two years later on I've decided that most of Wolfe's more mainstream stuff is ok but not really my speed (Peace and Free Live Free in particular didn't impress me much). There Are Doors, though, deserves to be plowed through a second time. After I read the Latro books.
