the hideous screeching sound than glyndwr makes when it starts up in the wet has been definitely traced to the compressor. meaning that if i drive around for a few minutes and then turn the compressor on, it's all fine. i _am_ a little curious about the occasional smell of ozone when it starts, though.

happy birthday, steph! see you in a week or so.

Belt too tight: Easy enough to check.. rule of thumb (heh) is that you should be able to depress the longest stretch of belt no more than the thickness of your thumb (on the loose extreme).. but you should be able to depress it some. In my truck, the manual said belts should depress about a quarter inch from straight for pulleys less than 12" apart, and 1/4-3/8" for pulleys more than 12" apart.

Ozone: got me :)

I can't afford new cars yet, though.. so used it is, with all their problems.
