A few weekends ago semilocal J-- and Kath and I did the Grouse Grind. This is where you hike to the top of Grouse Mountain, more or less straight up, over the course of an hour and a half. (Or less, if you are insane. Apparently people can run it in under half an hour.) Being a sensible person,
uilos took the tram and met us at the top, where we had a slightly chilly picnic lunch. Afterwards we all went and sat in the hot tub, because OW STIFF. The water and jets worked their magic and I wasn't terribly sore the next day.
This week it's finally turned cold enough for me to give up on running outside. Wednesday I tried The Gym and determined that yeah, I still hate gyms: there are Other People there, plus running (well, ellipticalling) in place sucks, plus it's crazy warm. So Friday I hit on a brilliant plan: there are stairs in this building that no one uses! Yesterday morning I went up and down about forty flights over the course of about twenty minutes.
This morning my calves are still stiff and objecting to things like "walking," or even "standing up." Perhaps not the best of plans.
