Words are inadequate

I find that list format never occurs to me until I've already written something up paragraph-style. So I've then spent ten minutes writing something that should have taken two, which I then largely undo.

Also, wading in the ocean? Were your feet on fire? When I lived in Santa Cruz, I found the water too cold for me to tolerate in July. I dare not imagine what it's like a thousand miles pole-ward.
