My problem with most cosmic-scale stories: why do the players involved give two craps about Earth? I think that Green Lantern actually did a pretty good job of making it feel like "yeah, if there were a galactic national guard, this is about what it would look like".

I will go ahead and commit my heresy now: when I look at Alec Guinness, I don't see Obi Wan any more. I see George Smiley. And definitely not prince Faisal.
