So there were some hockey-related riots in downtown Vancouver on Wednesday night. Idjits. I'd thought better of my adopted hometown. This picture makes it sting a little less.

Most common iPhone passcodes: unsurprisingly, the single most common unlock passcode is the kind of combination an idiot would put on his luggage. Some of the other factoids are kinda neat, though. (If you're thinking up a four-digit password, making it a year between 1930 and 2011 makes it far, far easier to guess.)

[livejournal.com profile] kynn walks us through how to choose the absolutely wrong person to write about girls and D&D. I just what I can't even begin to fathom how WotC thought this was a good idea.

After that last link, have a unicorn chaser. Brought back from extinction on the Arabian peninsula.

The Global Soap Project "recovers discarded soap from hotels, reprocesses it into new bars and distributes it to vulnerable populations throughout the world." Not as technically awesome as the liquid eyeglasses but a far bigger deal. See also CNN's report: Recycling hotel soap to save lives.

And finally, some amusement below the cut:

We're mostly unpacked and sorted at this point. Books and games are all on shelves, and even mostly where they're going to end up. (Games have been tightly condensed down to two bookcases, from the three-plus they used to occupy, which may make life difficult if we get any more at Origins. Which we will. Thankfully there's some overflow space into Fiction.) All that's left is hanging art, and the obligatory ton of smaller stuff: the storage closet, the spare room, the Last Lousy Boxes.

I'm reasonably happy with the place. I love the amount of light it gets and I love the views out the windows. I'm not as thrilled with the preponderance of hardwood floors, though they'll doubtless be good for some amusement once the cats get here. I don't like that we've had to exile half the books to the hallway because there's simply not enough wallspace, either.

Overall, it's a good place to be.

Tonight I think there will be gaming with new people. Possibly tomorrow as well. Also tomorrow we go to pick up our first share from the CSF. (Like a CSA, only for salmon [fishing] instead of veggies [agriculture].)
