Um, horseshit? The indie game developers I've seen make games the "well-oiled game-making machines" would never touch, because they're well-oiled at making the same three or four games repeatedly. Who's Jason Rohrer struggling to imitate with Sleep is Death? Oh, if only the Portal developers had had a couple million dollars more capital, they could have made the Halo clone they really wanted to...
