I have a vague desire to drown myself in television. Which of these, o lazyweb, would you recommend? (ETA: I've seen none of these except the BSG pilot)
  • Babylon 5
  • Farscape
  • Battlestar Galactica
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender
  • Something else entirely
(No poll because I'm more interested in the Whys.)

Not that this will be happening anytime soon: the next four months or so are kinda busy. But once we get settled I may do something like 'i made my wordcount for the week so i get another episode of X.'

Yeah, I'd recommend Avatar for the same reason. I caught episode 8 on a random TV-flipping day (The Winter Solstice, Part 2) and resolved to watch that show sometime. I ended up buying the DVD's and never looked back. To answer the later question, I believe it shows some legs in episodes 2 and 3, but 7 and 8 are where you realize that this is A Good Story and that it is Going Somewhere. Each season's finale run (the last 2-3 episodes) are fantastic, and while some of the character development is predictable, it's still good stuff.

It's a Nick cartoon so there are always "kid" moments, but its epic feel is really fantastic.
