Woke up yesterday not wanting anything to do with anybody. Amazing how a few hours not having anything to do with anybody (and drinking tea) can fix a bad mood. The sunlight outside probably didn't hurt either.

On the off chance that you're unfamiliar with the origin of the phrase "I happen to have Marshall McLuhan right here," you should watch this brief clip from Annie Hall (which inexplicably opens with Diane Keaton shouting "MY sexual problem, okay, MY sexual problem!" and thus may not be wholly worksafe for the first ten seconds unless one has earphones).

You should then read this comment and the two that follow it. Also, you could do worse than scan the remainder of the rather lengthy thread for other comments by kid bitzer. (Bérubé at #56 is also quite good.)

I find very little but stereotypical-liberal anti-gun talking points in that thread, unfortunately, and very little rational pro-gun response. Disappointing.

My favorite McLuhan-like moment was over on Wikipedia, the Knowledge Management entry, I think. On the Talk page, some dude (I forget his Wikipedia account name) was telling some other dude (account name something like snowd) that he was totally misrepresenting what Dave Snowden the KM guru had said about (some matter of KM). 2nd dude eventually pointed out that actually, he, 2nd dude WAS Dave Snowden.
