1) Package did indeed show up at Amelia's door, and was successfully retrieved.

2) It's possible to write the collections agency a letter and offer to pay them in full in exchange for having the entry removed from my credit reports. So. . . will see what happens with that. It's such a small amount that they may not want to bother, but, worth a try.

3) Google says:
Results 1 - 10 of about 1,710 for "fucking verizon".
Results 1 - 10 of about 1,010 for "fucking cox".
Results 1 - 10 of about 745 for "fucking sprint".
Results 1 - 10 of about 371 for "fucking nextel".
Results 1 - 10 of about 358 for "fucking at&t".
Results 1 - 10 of about 307 for "fucking cingular".
Results 1 - 10 of about 245 for "fucking t-mobile".

Time to contemplate switching home internet service. On the other hand, I may as well stick with AT&T Cingular AT&T for cell.

4) Dinner in Silver Spring followed by gaming tonight, possible gaming tomorrow, small chance of meeting a new person on Sunday, and some hope of finding a cute taker for my spare Dar ticket for next Friday.

My favorite tech blogger of all time, Steve Yegge, did a talk on branding once, and discussed GTE.

See, apparently they were the most hated phone company ever. In an effort to be less hated, they researched how long it would take people to forgive them. Apparently it takes 20 years, a generation, for a bad brand to stop being associated with badness.

So rather than wait 20 years they changed their name to Verizon.

I strongly suspect that that's the reason AT&T and Cingular keep changing names even though they're the same people.

Now, who would do such a thing?!

They're a client of ours, actually. Altria. You know that they own Kraft, as well? They're like the kings of addictive substances; nicotine and cheese.

I've actually found AT&T to be pretty good this time around (ask me about the last time, when I lived with the Obs...).

Granted, I think they vastly streamlined everything for iPhone users. There's really only one possible plan, and it doesn't have charges for stuff they normally hugely overcharge for. Probably if I had a normal phone I'd hate them.

And they still suck.
