. . . okay, Firefox 2 is teh win. When I minimize it, it goes to the back of my list of apps in the alt-tab menu. Angels are rejoicing over this simple bug-fix.

I'm going to want something to do on Monday. I can tell. So, from [livejournal.com profile] sir_alf and [livejournal.com profile] vvalkyri:

If you ask me, I'll:
1) Tell you why I friended you or make up something entertaining and plausible, at least.
2) Associate you with a song/movie.
3) Tell a random fact about you.
4) Tell my first memory of you.
5) Associate you with an animal/fruit or other odd item.
6) Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
7) Tell you my favorite user pic of yours.
8) Tell you something I like about you.

(I'm unlikely to get to any of these before Monday, and guaranteed to not get to them before Sunday afternoon.)

6)Why did you leave Aiken in the first place?

I wanted out of Aiken pretty much after I was 12. There was not a lot there and while I was okay with it at the time, I wanted to see the world. I didn't expect to stick around. I mean, the population is about the same as Tech. Not B'burg, tech.

The thing that actually got me out was the Church. On my 20th birthday I moved with 3 other guys to Columbia, SC to go to an Angilcan (sort of conservative Episcopal) church there. I'd converted not too long before and it seemed like a good idea at the time.

But conversion or no conversion, I wasn't going to live and die in that town without getting out. It's unlikely I'll live there again, but I'm not going to tempt fate by saying it would be impossible.

Peace.

(okay, I feel dumb for only just realizing that the word "meme" looks like "me" twice)

I want a big yard so I can have lots of gardens, much space for a hammock and enough space so I can play in the grass and clover.

I came out here while college hunting to look at Carleton, because they had the best application literature of any I'd received. My dad decided, above my protests, that we'd stop at Mac because we were already going to be in the TCs, and that we should give it a try. Of all the schools I visited, it was the only one where the students genuinely seemed to be having any fun. (It didn't hurt that the girl I PF'd with had twelve different colors of hair, either.) They also offered me a scholarship.

6) Short answer, nothing. I came here by default, because after the debacle that was Sioux Falls this was the only place I could go.

Long answer, only two things I can think of. There are jobs here, many jobs, mostly tolerable. There are excellent restaurants. In fact, I could paraphrase Joel Spolsky and say that in Houston, you will go out to eat nine places this week that would be your favorite restaraunt in Blacksburg. Not that Blacksburg and NoVA have bad food, just that it's one thing Houston does well.

i'll bite. or, since you're the one who would be doing the work, should that be "bite me" instead?

2 - never heard it, will have to look it up
4 - i was quite good at being miserable about things and people
6 - i did, and then when i later moved on from that, i was always kind of embarrassed because i had this situation in my head where you knew i had a crush but thought it was still going on and would make some comment based on that assumption and then everything would be awkward. mind you, that situation never actually happened, but still.

Making someone who doesn't know me very well do this sort of thing is too good to pass up. Please try this with me.

6) I believe you must be talking about this coat (http://www.barbour.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=products.view&ProductID=10&StartRow=1&RangeID=1&New=0&PCategoryID=10&PSubCategoryID=&FeatureID=), which I bought at the Orvis on Leesburg Pike in Tyson's Corner.

Question: Why Boondock Saints? It's appropriate, I guess, and one of my favorites, but have I ever said/done anything in your presence to associate myself with it? I've been racking my brain and can't remember.

no RPGing at the moment. No group around here. Keep thinking one day I'll get off my butt and run CP2020. You'd think anyone with the amount of books I have for that could run it. I think I'm just afraid if I try I'll find I don't have the imagination to run something...
