NO WAI!!!: "1:07pm - Informed by co-worker that a) I am going to hell, and b) he has seconded nomination of Orly the Owl as our symbol of empowerment and quality." [via [livejournal.com profile] chadu]

Review of Sphere: "And that, my children, is how Sphere made it to the screen." Perhaps not entirely work-safe, though it's a JPG scan of a newspaper clipping and not text.

And just in case there's someone out there who's not read this, Fenimore Cooper's Literary Offenses by Mark Twain. "[Cooper] saw nearly all things as through a glass eye, darkly." "There have been daring people in the world who claimed that Cooper could write English, but they are all dead now."

My brand-new seven-dollar toaster also sets off the smoke alarm. Perhaps the error lies in my accidental acquisition of unfrosted Pop-Tarts last weekend. Or maybe toasters just suck. Whatever. Today I also get to take my watch out to a repair shop, since the back keeps trying to pop out. May as well replace the crystal while I'm at it.

On the less grumpy side, I now own the awesomest board game ever, and there's a Game Day tomorrow.

There is NO watch repair in the New River Valley. At least, there wasn't a few years ago when I went to just about every jewelery store in the area trying to get someone to repair my watch and put a new crystal on it.

here's another one :)

slightly more narrow in appeal, but fabulous nonetheless.

Is Caylus available in mass market channels now, then?

Problems with my watch were fixed by taking it to Henebry's in the NRV mall. They either fix it or mail it away to their watchmaker, in either case they've never taken longer than a couple days and charged me about $10.

I own a weird-ass watch, which freaks them out, so they always want to mail it to the watchmaker for anything more complex than a new battery.
