Computer fux0red. This is a result of either my 'fixing' of its long-standing difficulty running files named SETUP.EXE via judicious registry hackery, or attempting to reinstall security patches from Windows Update after IE crashed in the middle of installing them the first time [for, I think, unrelated reasons. I could be wrong, though]. It was crashing and rebooting itself as soon as it reached the end of the splash screen loading bar. Now, after an hour and a half with the Win2K CD, it gets as far as a login screen and hangs.

I'll go one more round with the Win2K disc, and then I'm giving up for the night. In the meantime, hurrah for Dana, and I imagine I should talk to someone [like J.] about the wireless access I've been leeching. Or at least mention it to my next-door neighbors, since I'm pretty sure it originates from their place.

It wouldn't be so bad except that I've got a paper due tomorrow. Oh well. Emailed the professors already to beg for an extension. And that's the last computer-requiring thing due before the break. I think.

You found out what keeps it from running setup.exe files? I'm curious...
