The Tucker's Moving Out? NYAQ

0. NYAQ?

Not Yet Asked Questions. Posted here in order to keep people from asking me (or, worse, other people). I'd prefer not to go over this more times than I absolutely have to. (Having said that, if something's unclear then PLEASE ask me about it.)

1. What the fuck, huh? I mean, what the fucking fuck?

I'm temporarily moving out of Patrick's basement into an apartment by myself.

1.1 When?

I'm taking my stuff over this afternoon, once I get this post whipped into a presentable shape.

2. Why?

Because living with Emily while dating Kelly is, in fact, pulling me apart. (Everyone who said "It's a bad idea," please give yourself three points. Points can be saved to Keep Score, or can be exchanged for opportunities to tell me "I told you so.") So I'm taking some time apart from both of them to try and get my head in order, figure out which (if either) I need to be committing to.

I tried this over the summer, but failed due to an insufficient definition of 'apart from both of them.'

2.1. So define 'apart from both of them.'

Pretty much no contact. No seeing day-to-day, no phone, no ICQ, no email. As I am a big wimp I'll probably continue to read their LiveJournals, though if that gets too bad I'll start filtering them.
I'm still undecided on what I'll be doing about Spiel or role-playing or other purely-group-social events. Expect that to get resolved within the next couple weeks.

2.2. What's the intended end result?

Well. . . there's three possibilities.

One is that I decide that E & I were simply Meant To Be, and I move back in here and start trying to work things out.

Another is that I decide that K & I are Meant To Be, and I move into the apartment permanently and start working things out with her.

A third possibility is that neither of them is The One. That'll probably end with me moving into the apartment as well, though.

Other options exist, but have been for the most part contemplated, discussed, and discarded by the involved parties.

2.3. You've been a complete idiot about this, you know?

Sure do.

3. How long?

As long as I need to. Minimum, a couple of weeks. Probably not more than a month; after that it's really not 'temporary' and I'll take steps to permanentize it.

4. Where?

Sundance Ridge, Apt 503G. (The same complex in which K resides, though at the other end of the street. I don't anticipate this presenting much of a problem.) Where [livejournal.com profile] lizthefair used to live, in fact.

5. Isn't this, like, super-expensive?

Yeah. Paying rent in two places sucks. Not nearly as much as the prospect of going through the emotional roller-coaster of last semester again, though. And I'll be getting more money from the gov't this semester due to actually being a junior.

6. So how do I, your well-meaning friend, get in touch with you?

What an excellent question. Net connectivity is still an open issue; this week or next I'll look into setting up Ethernet through the company that services the apartment complex. (Those of you familiar with [livejournal.com profile] nixve's Etherwoes from last winter may consider this to be the same as having no net at all.) For email and LJ there's always the library or the Math Emporium once that opens back up.

Snail-mail won't be an issue; if you've got the address for Patrick's place, it's all good, since I'll probably be picking up my mail every so often.

To the left, phone is utterly changed. There's no land line set up for the place, and so rather than pay to have the sucker installed I figured I'd just break down and get a cell phone. So, over Xmas my father set me up with his old phone and an AT&T plan. If you want the number just ask me (jazzfish at softhome dot net). Yes, it'll be on most of the time.

I'll be in NoVa for the end of this week (Wed or Thurs through Sat), so I'll certainly have net access up there.

7. What can I, your well-meaning friend, do to help?

Take care of E and K, and don't ask them stupid or insensitive questions. (Ask me instead. Seriously. Come to me with any questions about the situation.)

Best of luck to you in sorting this out.

Is there anything useful that one can to do "take care of E" (I don't
know K, to the best of my knowledge) from a distance?

P.S.: Go you, for leaving things sufficiently open-ended to allow
for what will be to be.
