Survived the icky stomach bug; I'm about over it totally now. Hurrah for health insurance. (which, in an odd tangential way, reminds me: I haven't forgotten you, stine; getting going in classes has just been hectic.)

Blue Man rocked, of course. It rocked a bit less than the Merriwether show, but it still rocked. (No offence, [livejournal.com profile] vileone, but yer locals were a buncha drunk rednecks at the concert. There is no excuse for screaming during a live performance of Exhibit 13.) Much fun.

On the way to Raleigh we listened to, among other things, an audio production of Neil Gaiman's "Snow, Glass, Apples." Very well-done, and it's available along with "Murder Mysteries" for like $22 as Two Plays for Voices. On the way back we listened to Warren Zevon's new album (The Wind) a couple of times. My initial guess holds true: it's better than Life'll Kill Ya but not as good as My Ride's Here, although it's closer to MRH than LKY on that scale. You pop in the disc and the first track is a jaunty little tune, and then Warren's voice comes on with "Sometimes I feel like my shadow's casting me" and you know you're in for a good ride. And everyone (I mean everyone) is on this album: Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, The Eagles, Ry Cooder, Emmylou Harris, even Warren's next-door neighbor Billy Bob Thornton. Very cool. (Sadly, none of the songs ever mention the Rosicrucians, so MRH starts off ahead before we even get into song quality.)

Also on the way back I was cruising along at about seventy-three and I pull up beside a shiny car, which I suddenly realise is a STATE TROOPER. So I start slowing down to his speed. "Hey," I say, "he's going kind of slow. What's the speed limit here, anyway?" Turns out it's FIFTY-FIVE. I cruise behind him for about thirty seconds, until he gets pissed off, lets/forces me to pass him. gets behind me, and flashes his lights at me for a second. Bastard. About three minutes of alternating between "check the road in front, check the speedometer, check the rearview mirror, check the speedometer" was all I could take, and at one in the morning on a highway it takes effort to drive fifty-five. He got off at the next exit, though, so it was all good.

Um. Yeah. Wednesday was Spiel, which was pleasantly busy. Good to see so many people again, although I was still rather wiped out from Blue Man. Wednesday night I got sick. Went to club showcase for a bit on Friday, then came home and slept for twelve hours. Game Day was very cool. Played a lot of Puerto Rico and a couple of other games. Cape Horn is a fun race/mazeish game. Sunday I worked (yay money) and watched Eqbm again with K. It continues to rock. And now it's Monday, and Performance Lab has been cancelled for Labor Day, so I don't have to go on campus for another couple hours. Yay me. (Although I need to talk to my English advisor, so I'll probably do that before class.)
