book-larnin'
Jul. 15th, 2003 06:09 pmA public service announcement: "objektife: i watn a JOB"
Here's Uncle Zeus, Aunt Hera, the Twins...": "Now, the Newmans' work has been published by the University of North Carolina Press as 'A Genealogical Chart of Greek Mythology: Comprising 3,673 Named Figures of Greek Mythology, All Related to Each Other Within a Single Family of 20 Generations.'"
I have a schedule for fall now. It's a cool schedule. It involves all the classes I need to take (including the impossible-to-get-into Script Analysis class... there happened to be a slot open, and I grabbed it). Best of all, it is COMPLETELY EMPTY on Fridays. This means I will probably work in calendar-land from 9:45 to 3:30 on Fridays, but that's okay, money is good too.
Now I just have to write a letter to the Financial Aid office explaining why my grades suck (I had no business being back in school), how I'm making them not suck (by actually caring about classes), and how I'll keep them from sucking again in the future (by getting no grade less than a B-, as to do otherwise would dishonor me and force me to commit seppuku). I still don't know if I'll be able to pull my in-major up high enough to graduate; I suspect I won't, and will have to get some departmental hand-waves. Oh well. Burn that bridge when I get to it.

Date: 2003-07-16 02:47 pm (UTC)I'm at the point where, except for the occasional pointless paper, I'm actually enjoying most of my classes. I'm here partly because I think it'll get me a decent job (yay slave to the modern myth), partly because I'd like to finish something I started eight years ago, and partly because I want to be.
I certainly wouldn't object to watching Animal House again, though. :)

Date: 2003-07-27 08:28 pm (UTC)Of course, I'm not sure if/when I'll be able to see you in any event. The earliest I can possibly get up there is Wednesday the 6th at around five... and that depends on there not being anything important going on in class on Thursday.
I suppose if bad comes to worse I can mail you a check and get you to ship them to me once you get settled in the northwest.
