_monsters inc_ was actually quite good. i hadn't expected them to be able to sustain the plot (monsters scare children, because scared children provide energy, but monsters are really afraid of children. child gets loose in monsterland. hilarity ensues) throughout an entire movie, but they did. and it was cool. the ep2 trailer was pretty lame, and i find it only fitting that i mock all the people who stood in line and paid money to see it. <Nelson>HA-HA!</Nelson>.
afterwards we went over to dave&kayla's to watch Shrek. still a really really good movie. i may have to buy the dvd.
then came satyrday. emily and i spent 7 hrs building a stage for _Three Days of Rain_ in the capri. it looks pretty good, but that was more physical labor than i've done in ages, and i was beat. so of course we came home, showered, and went to the vtsffc halloween party.
the halloween party was actually fairly neat. crystal black and djinn were there, in from elsewhere. i spent several hours talking to crystal. flashback city, man...
sunday was more set construction and a run-through, which i bailed on at around ten because of a splitting headache.
and then just today i got my Triton paper back, on which i did better than the Alice paper. go figure. and i go to talk to the professor in about fifteen minutes. go me.

On the VTSFFC party
Nov. 5th, 2001 09:45 amEventually, things get to the point where it's just not worth the aggravation of dealing with people. I reached that point with Mandy about six months ago, and my life has been remarkably less stressful due to it. (The party was a small exception, since djinn is a good friend of Mandy's and I had to bite my tongue several times.) I'm hoping I'll get the last of my stuff that she borrowed back before the end of the year, but that may be wishful thinking.
The attitude of "If I borrowed it and I've had it for longer than six months, it's basically mine" bugs me a lot. Especially since Mandy is too flaky to be bothered to return things without a lot a lot of prodding, and then she'll get bitchy because she thinks you're implying that she's flaky.
Anyway. Mandy was supposed to return Vond's antique stereo receiver (which she'd borrowed several years ago) by seven so it could be set up in time for the party. She showed up with it just before 7:30 and was extremely snippy with anyone who suggested that she'd been late. Vond, of course, was stressing an awful lot. Not that I blame him.
I'd like to think that we've all learned a valuable lesson from this experience. <shrug> On the other hand, if you find Mandy to be such a good friend that it's worth dealing with her tantrums...
