On the VTSFFC party

Eventually, things get to the point where it's just not worth the aggravation of dealing with people. I reached that point with Mandy about six months ago, and my life has been remarkably less stressful due to it. (The party was a small exception, since djinn is a good friend of Mandy's and I had to bite my tongue several times.) I'm hoping I'll get the last of my stuff that she borrowed back before the end of the year, but that may be wishful thinking.
The attitude of "If I borrowed it and I've had it for longer than six months, it's basically mine" bugs me a lot. Especially since Mandy is too flaky to be bothered to return things without a lot a lot of prodding, and then she'll get bitchy because she thinks you're implying that she's flaky.

Anyway. Mandy was supposed to return Vond's antique stereo receiver (which she'd borrowed several years ago) by seven so it could be set up in time for the party. She showed up with it just before 7:30 and was extremely snippy with anyone who suggested that she'd been late. Vond, of course, was stressing an awful lot. Not that I blame him.

I'd like to think that we've all learned a valuable lesson from this experience. <shrug> On the other hand, if you find Mandy to be such a good friend that it's worth dealing with her tantrums...

Well, to be fair-ish, I had pretty much told Mandy she could have the stereo. I only tapped that resource for the party because I knew she hadn't hooked it up yet. Everyone else's stereo is part of some tangle of wires that's a major pain to unhook and re-hook. Also, it seems that Lisa unintentionally dumped Tiffany's costume on Mandy. Or so djinn says - Lisa doesn't like that suggestion.

I actually am starting to have the strangely opposite problem - there have been so many roommates through my apartment, that we're starting to have to throw away stuff we've "inherited". The worst is Brad though. He left a bunch of crap that we're not allowed to throw away, but he doesn't have room for until John Franklin's house in Raleigh is built.

While she was sitting in the Back Room, Mandy spouted off something about how if it's been in her apartment for six months, she considers it basically hers, which is a philosophy I have a problem with. I would have called her on it, but I didn't want to alienate djinn.
As for the costume: Mandy is perfectly capable of saying no... and if not, she shouldn't bitch about it. Or at least should bitch about it to the right people. But that's a whole 'nother Mandy issue.

Sometimes I wonder how much stuff in Apt 1 actually belongs to the people who live there now...
When is Franklin's house going to be up?

I didn't know Mandy had said that, that clears things up a bit.

Franklin's house should be done sometime this month, but you know how that goes... I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Well, yeah... see previous post. Hanging out with people was neat. I just wanted to get this off my chest. Overall I had fun.
