i hurt less today. this is an improvement. given another couple weeks, i may be able to breathe properly.

i found a hack for Blood Omen, so it works under Win2K now. according to the guy who wrote the hack, "The problem was that the game tried to access the video hardware directly, which of course is forbidden in Win 2k. Taking out the offending instruction seems to fix it though." i am vaguely creeped out by this... it just seems like such a bad idea. it hasn't killed anything yet, although this morning my machine couldn't find its keyboard, and then couldn't find its dvd-rom drive. probably unrelated problems, though.

[livejournal.com profile] vond has gone to japan. i kept hoping i would have something to say about this, but my mad writing skillz are being burnt on this bloody paper. maybe on friday.

Probably all it's doing is changing all the video card calls to 2k system calls that do the same thing. It can't possiblt harm the computer, because it's just changing stuff in that one binary, right? Why is that creeping you out?
