I was going to write a thoughtful analysis of the last few days (I've had to go into tester mode because the things that need documented Really Really Badly either aren't ready or haven't been Organizationally Approved by Donna), but then I came back from class and had lunch and broke the program some more, and it stopped seeming worth it.
You'd be amazed at the number of bugs you can find when you discover a new feature.
I've submitted, on average, ten bug reports a day for the last three days. Something like six of them have been closed; another six or so have been actually looked at. Sixty percent of my effort is deemed irrelevant.
Quantifying it doesn't help. I'd hoped it would, but it doesn't.
The "Nobody" bug file is a horrible, horrible idea, and should be discarded as soon as bloody possible. *Every* bug should have a home, someone who's responsible for it, even if they're only going to dump it on some unsuspecting intern. Of course, this goes back to assuming that you have coders and management who give a damn about fixing bugs (Adam, this isn't directed at you: it's directed at Dan and Ben, and to a lesser degree at LizAnn), and we all know where *that* gets you. (For those who don't: it gets you a ticket on the Bitter Bus.)
The ducks weren't sitting in the mud puddle yesterday, either. I was disappointed.
On the other hand, How to Deconstruct Almost Anything has provided me with minutes of entertainment. Recommended.
