Oct. 18th, 2022 03:44 pmI brought Mr Tuppert home today. I asked the animal control center about his history, since he'd been tattooed. She said they'd picked him up as a stray. They called the number associated with the tattoo and got "oh, we gave him to our son," and from there "oh, we gave him to someone else," and eventually hit a dead end. And no one had come looking for him in the past month, so.
He is larger than I had thought from previous visit, larger enough that he doesn't really fit in the soft-sided carrier I'd bought. Oops. I borrowed a hard carrier from animal control, and I'll take it back whenever I go out biking again. (Too much smoke in the air currently. Hoping it dies down soon.)
Mr Tuppert has been hiding under the bed for the past several hours. If I sit on the floor in the bedroom, he'll stick his head out for scritches, and then come out and wander around for a minute or three before going back. He's not best pleased: his tail is set to Lash, though he's not growling or bitey or anything. He is in fact purring when he thinks I'm about to pay attention to him. Likes scritches, very drooly. I think we'll do alright.
A new name has yet to present itself. Isidore perhaps, or perhaps Winterhill. Or he may remain Mr Tuppert.
(Photos forthcoming once he's out and about.)

Date: 2022-10-18 11:25 pm (UTC)He came out and wandered around the living room a bit. Hopped on and off the couch, then on a dining-room chair and onto the table, but got down off the table quickly when I indicated that Cats Do Not Go On Tables. And now he's back in the bedroom.
