You know, I was kinda thinking that myself. It definitely starts off looking like Job ("Do you know my servant Frost?") and it's certainly got the feeling of a test. But the Faust overtones are so very strong that they keep drowning out the Job harmony, and so I forget / neglect to mention Job when I talk about the story.
