So after all that, on Friday after work I got in the car fully intending to drive to Ellicott City to see several good friends in Twelfth Night ... and stared out at the sea of traffic and thought "I just can't handle this, not for 2.5 hours." And texted E, picked her up at a much nearer Metro station, and turned around and came home and introverted for almost the entire evening. I guess four days of DC traffic is about all I can take.

I'm still mildly annoyed at myself for that. Not for the decision I made: given my mental state it was the right call. More for having to make that decision, for not holding up better. I missed seeing [personal profile] thanate, and I missed a play I'd rather wanted to catch, and I missed a number of other people. Bother.

Satyrday I took the rental car back and discovered a number of nasty scratches in the rear bumper, and then we headed down to the Outer Banks for a week of gaming with good people, and then off again today to WisCon.

The trouble with Beach Week is that it's not terribly conducive to introvert time. Which is why I've not gotten any email done this week, and why I'm now hiding in my hotel room instead of going out and having fun at the convention itself.

Yeah, I've sort of gone off driving anywhere highway-like in the vague vicinity of rush hour. Glad to know that you weren't actually stuck in awful traffic when E called, and here's hoping that you are able to enjoy some of wiscon.

Yeah; there was that one day where I got on the beltway ramp from Rt 7 and just drove right through the exit & got back off on chain bridge & went home again...

At least from here, November seems like a far better idea.
