spring tomatoes
Mar. 16th, 2013 11:30 amPomodoro works wonders when I use it; the lethargy and reluctance formerly associated with staying on task have magically transferred to hitting the start button on the timer. Whoops. Still, it's been good for a couple of hours a day of focused effort. I'm looking forward to trying it out on real writing instead of work-writing.
Spring (well, post-winter) is good for me, I think. I mean, this week was awful, but overall I'm feeling a little more alert and alive. More willing to try to contact people, more interested in putting effort into things. Hoping the weather will be warm enough (and I'll be rested enough) to start running again next week, and hoping that will have a positive feedback effect on life and energy level in general.
101 in 1001 update (the list)
Completed:
1) Travel outside the US/Canada. 2013-02-15, San José del Cabo.
In progress:
11) Collect a dozen rejections. (0/12) Trying to meet people again; that's a start, anyway.
18) Inbox Zero (nothing in the mailbox that wants a response). Everything that wants a response has been flagged. Current flag count: 20.
28) See a concert by an artist I've listened to for at least five years. Tickets acquired for Tylan's (formerly of Girlyman) show in Seattle tomorrow, and holy cow it was 5.5 years ago that I saw Girlyman open for Indigo Girls and was blown away by Saint Peter's Bones.
31) Submit 100 stories to paying markets. (1/100) To quote Laura B., "I'd have given up on this story, if only it didn't get such pleasant rejections."
78) Stay under budget on discretionary purchases for six months. That's 'consecutive.' 2/6. Helps that February a) was short and b) contained a week-long vacation wherein
uilos covered most of the spending money.
90) Read or purge everything currently on the To Be Read shelf. (8/25) Read Hardwired by Walter Jon Williams, mid-eighties cyberpunk. Finished The Drama of the Gifted Child by Alice Miller. Read The Wand in the Word, a collection of interviews with thirteen YA fantasy authors. Read The Westing Game.
Aborted:
30) Write a medialog entry at least once a month. Aborted as of 2013-03-01. From this I can conclude that a) 'ongoing' items were a bad idea, and b) the medialog is no longer of much importance to me.
