Origins, The End
Jul. 11th, 2001 08:54 amFriday… um. Friday was. I must have done something on Friday. Other than sleep.
I mastered in the Zendo tournament. I wandered around the exhibition hall and spent more money. I ran a couple more Fluxx tournament qualifiers, one of which took place during the IceTraders tournament (grr).
Friday was when they announced the Origins Awards. Icehouse and Chrononauts both won in their respective categories (Abstract Board Game and Traditional Card Game), which was very very cool. So there was much partying.
Satyrday I spent money (again) and played in the Twelfth Annual International Icehouse Tournament. Did pretty well, too… fifth place (also known as "first loser" since only the top four go on to the finals, but hey). I managed to beat Jake (the eventual winner) in my first round. I was happy. Now if I can just manage to beat Eeyore…
I would have hung out with the Pittsburghers Satyrday night, but Emily pulled her back so I had to escort her back to the hotel, and I wound up just crashing there.
Sunday it was all over bar the shouting. The Fluxx World Championship happened, and was mostly fun to watch (barring an irritating guy who took a couple minutes to make each play). Takedown was pretty fast. Dinner was alright, more fun for the company than for the food. Then we came home on Monday. The end.
