Zuko gets things wrong a lot. Not much goes right for him. Poor boy. As much of anything, the series is about the characters learning how to define themselves, and I love the fact that is shows them getting things wrong as part of that process.

The tone does become more serious and often darker as the series progresses, and the resulting episodes are fantastic. I was deeply impressed with the ability to turn a character on an angle, and show us something new with just a few scenes. The series also becomes even more beautiful- they aren't short on pretty, and there are parts I've watched many times because they're just gorgeous. And the music is good. It's high quality stuff.
