21 days for Dreamwidth, #21:
What's your favorite thing about Dreamwidth?

I could say that it's the friendliness, or the developers' willingness to keep working on things that are frustrating, or the way it's imported nearly ten years of history from Livejournal without much of a hiccup. But honestly? It's the expanding cut tag.

It expands!

And contracts!

And nests amazingly well!

Even when you put text outside an inside cut!

So there's that.

(the cool new people i've met are a close second, though. *wave*)

It's by far the most glaring "why the hell has it taken Six Apart this long" feature. I am a little spoiled and wish they had made it look cooler though.

Maybe I should write a theme.

Shrink would be pretty cool, I admit.

Hm. Can you do that in DW styles? Neat.

Beats me, maybe? It's all client-side, I was expecting you could put in arbitrary JS / CSS, kinda like a Wordpress theme. I've never actually looked at it though.

I'm really happy with Wordpress so far. One window open to Coda and one on Chrome and you can pretty much hack it to do whatever you want. And the write-a-post interface is leaps and bounds better than LJ / DW's lame textbox.

The expanding cut tag is one of those features that I never knew that I needed. And now I miss it so much when I visit LJ :)

I know! It went from "um, what?" to "oh, kinda neat" to "WHY DOES LJ NOT HAVE THIS" in the space of about a week. It is wonderful.

Admittedly, having never experienced that feature before, I had to play with it a bit before figuring out [how] to click the triangles rather than the text. :)
