A lot of the problem for me is that I don't really have a process in place for revising, because I haven't had anything get to the "needs revision" stage before. And I haven't figured out how to look at Big Picture stuff while revising, how to separate out 'structure' from 'character' from 'description' from what have you; when I go back over it, it all looks bad, and it all needs work. Lack of focus, I guess.

I mean, Tuesday night I basically rewrote from scratch the entire first scene-- and it needed it, because it needed to be doing about three different things and wasn't doing any of them, but that doesn't lend itself well to finishing any /one/ thing.

Which is one of the reasons I'm really hoping I get into VP: maybe they can teach me how to revise.

And, yeah. I figure, I can keep attacking the rough edges of this one story and make it As Good As Possible, and then I'll end up with... one story. Or I can write a bunch more stories, and revise them somewhat, and in a year or two I'll have a batch of stories and have a better idea of how I can fix them.

Thanks! I really don't know how much to hope or anything. Even college applications weren't this bad: I applied early decision to Tech and was basically guaranteed admittance based on my high school and my over-3.0 GPA.
