Hey! I had a mad cardinal alarm clock for years. I have the right to laugh. Granted, it should make me empathize, if I were a better person, but instead I'm picturing John Belushi from a very old SNL skit, perching in the tree outside your window, and so instead I must laugh.

The first time I heard Carolina wrens was when we lived in North Carolina, fittingly enough. I was convinced they were mocking me by talking over and over about where I wanted to be and saying "ginia VIRginia VIRginia VIR"
