LOLGrues: delightful. Zarf is amazing and weird, as he often is.

Etch-A-Sketch for Windows(tm): "Rumors that Mr. Gates has poor color sense are slander, unless you expressed them in a message to Microsoft Customer Service, in which case they are libel."

New British coins, which are awesome. Also, the 50p and 20p are heptagons, which are even more awesome. (Yes, I know, they have been for ages.)

Some people are sad that they're removing Brittania, the personification of the UK. I agree the new coins look kickass.

Pulling out a $5 for the toll booth on Saturday, I was surprised by the color -- hadn't heard about them yet! But the booth worker took the money, so I figured it was legit.

something else about the 50p and 20p. The edges between the points are slightly curved, and the coins actually have a constant diameter. So if you made a prism using the coin as the face, you could make rollers that didn't feel bumpy for the thing that's rolling on top.

They are not strictly heptagons - yes, they have 7 sides and 7 vertices, but the sides are slightly curved, and not straight.

oh, and note that having a constant diameter is not the same as having a constant radius.
