jazzfish: an open bottle of ether, and George conked out (Ether George)

The problem with getting in to work at seven-thirty is that my tea is gone before ten. I'd get a second cup but I'm trying to avoid a serious caffeine addiction. So it's back to mint or water for me.

I come home and I collapse on the couch and stare at the ceiling or the bookshelves for fifteen minutes, half an hour. I ought to be doing something but it's just too much effort. This is kind of understandable when it's immediately after work. It seems excessive when it's coming on the heels of an ice cream outing, or RPG night, and the 'do something' that's too much effort consists of 'brush my teeth and go to bed.'

It's surprisingly easy to forget how exhausting people can be. There's a small handful that require no particular effort to interact with, and three or four that can even be refreshing. Boardgaming days are pretty low-stress as well, probably due to there being a known structure to work within. And, yeah, sometimes watching a party happening around me has a soothing effect. In general, though, people are difficult. Usually but not always more so than the absence of people.

"Maybe . . . maybe 'lonely.' --You're laughing. Well, it is funny. Linus Larrabie is Lonely."

Perhaps I could use an actual, nonstressful vacation, one that doesn't involve cramming as much time as possible into too few hours. I think I had one of those in 2004.

You are just an introvert. Dealing with other people is like handling kryptonite.

I deal with lonely-introversion by going to the bookstore and reading while other people ignore me. :)

I quit caffeine for a few years, so my morning tea was decaf black (aka English Breakfast), which is delicious with some cream and sugar.
