I like to think of 2006 as the year when I started making smaller mistakes. Highlights include departing Blacksburg, having my own place, fitting into my high school class ring, and being more honest in my dealings with myself and other people. The low points aren't worth dwelling on. That was in another country, and besides, the wench is dead.
Holiday madness is over, I'm back at work, and my schedule is likely to remain undisrupted for the foreseeable future. Sounds like a good time to make sweeping pronouncements about what I'll do to improve my life.

- More downtime. I don't spend nearly enough time enjoying this cool apartment I've got, and far too much staring at my monitor instead. From home 'til dinner is apartment-time: reading, video games, actually cooking, whatever. (That 'cooking' thing perhaps ought to be its own resolution.)
- More writing. Saying "I want to write more" was a good idea but without specific scheduling it fell by the wayside like so many other things. Start with Monday nights after nine, see how well that does.
- More sociability. I wouldn't want to do that all the time, but I found the housewarming to be quite enjoyable. And of course having four or five people over for games or conversation or whatever is Good. A small gathering at least once a month, and a larger one every two or three months. Plus actually calling people and saying "Hey, want to go do *cool thing*?"
- Use my health insurance. A physical and checkup for the first time in ages, continued six-month dentist visits, and check to see if they cover counseling. (And get me some of that regardless of whether they cover it.)
- No backsliding. On exercise, on reining in impulse purchases, on that whole 'honesty' thing.

Date: 2007-01-03 12:52 am (UTC)As for running something myself, I've been loosely kicking the idea around for, oh, about six months now. Problems: 1) my games tend to come to a screeching halt if we're missing more than one player at a session, or one player for two or three nights in a row, and gamers aren't really the most reliable of folk. 2) No plot ideas have smacked me upside the head and said "Hey, run me already!" which is where most of my games come from.
