Tom Schaller observes that "For the first time in 50 years, the party that controls both chambers of Congress is a minority party in the South." Thank God.

Naming the War: "Is anyone else bothered that the current conflict in Iraq seems to be somehow nameless?" asks one commenter, and naming ensues.

The 50 Worst Video Game Names Of All Time: pay particular attention to #11 and #1. [livejournal.com profile] mrstickman, I'm looking at you.

Last reminder: food and games at my place, tomorrow, from three 'til whenever. RSVPs are nice, but given the amount of food I'm planning on making it's pretty unlikely that anyone will have to go without. There shall be ziti for all and sundry. (Bonus points to anyone who knows the proper definition of "sundry.")

New GameCube games are now $20 at EB, thanks to the impending release of the Wii. (Support trailing-edge technology!)

. . . yeah. That's about the most exciting thing I've seen all week. Other than the good solid thunderstorm yesterday, that is.

bonus points?

In the sport of cricket, an extra is a run scored by a means other than a batsman hitting the ball. Extras are also sometimes called sundries.

Various; miscellaneous: a purse containing keys, wallet, and sundry items.
[Middle English sundri, from Old English syndrig, separate.]

consisting of a haphazard assortment of different kinds (even to the point of incongruity)

One and all, as in "The salesman gave samples to all and sundry." [Late 1400s]

I think of sundry as a word of which everyone has a vague definition but few probably know exactly (or I might be totally wrong - wouldn't be the first time).

And I mean to risvip earlier that I can not make your shindig. I have work pretty much all day. Have a great time.

Likewise, I would like to come. I will hopefully be riding with the motorcycle club, though, so I imagine I'll be late. Then again, it gets dark early, and most of those old guys aren't as blase about cold weather riding as I am, so maybe not that late.
