Words are inadequate

What uilos said, with the caveat that it was all differently good. He rarely if ever repeated himself. Example: his novels included the best alternate history ever (The Dragon Waiting), perhaps the earliest cyberpunk novel written (Web of Angels), urban fantasy (The Last Hot Time), a musical comedy Star Trek novel (How Much For Just the Planet?), and a couple of others.

I dunno which of his poems is my favorite; the three I've read most often are the Janus Sonnet, Against Entropy (it's on my wall at work), and Winter Solstice, Camelot Station. That last was self-published as a Christmas card, and went on to win Mike his second World Fantasy Award. Go figure.
