The visitor didn't keep me in suspense. In a pleasant baritone, he said, "My name is [SPOILER]. May I join you, Lord Taltos?"

When I could talk again, I said, "So, correct me if I'm wrong: You're not a myth, then?"

Unfortunately for anyone familiar with the series, the spoiler there seems semi-obvious (though I could be wrong).

Am I to assume you got a copy of Dzur somehow?

It wasn't a difficult somehow, he got it at Barnes&Nobles. If I'd just gotten to the SF&F section first...

I didn't even realize it was out, and it seems I'm not the only one.

I read the spoiler, just read the actual line in [livejournal.com profile] athelred's copy, and feel somewhat daft for not making the connection to start with... apparently, I am dumb, or the spoiler is safe.

The previous poster is right -- you left in the most spoileriffic part.

Congrats! I've seen the book, but not in a fashion that let me take (or read) it.

Dunno. Avram Grumer was an advance reader (of the manuscript -- over a year ago), and I recently-ish got an ARC (and review it for NYRSF -- I'm waiting to see what comes of the review) of the new Hodgell Jamethiel book, but I didn't get an ARC of Dzur, no.

It's cool. From what you've said, it shows up soon after the beginning of the book and if it's who I think it is, then I fully expected he/she/they to show the hell up sometime.
