Balticon was wondrous fun. Neil Gaiman talks exactly like he blogs. Peter Beagle is an amazingly cool and self-deprecating guy. (Q: "Will someone ever make _Folk of the Air_ into a movie?" PSB: "Someone should make _Folk of the Air_ into a book first.") And Gene Wolfe, despite his crochety reputation, was extremely gracious, and didn't snap but once at an audience member who missed things in his story due to not paying sufficient attention. (I, on the other hand, picked up on everything that Gene mentioned about his story. I M SMRT. Smrt enough to read Gene Wolfe, at any rate, which is saying something.)

Also, according to Peter the people with the amazingly cool cast list for a live-action Last Unicorn movie will never be able to get it made, and in fact never actually talked to the actors whose names they put on the list. On the other hand, Paramount is interested in making the movie, so maybe.
I made three mistakes when I left on Friday morning. I turned the air conditioning off (didn't want to run up the power bill while I was gone). I left the window closed (didn't want to cause problems in case downstairs decided to run the AC). I left my computer running (I have no explanation for this one).
I got back into town at seven last night. My room was ninety-five degrees.
Running the AC full blast with the windows open and the ceiling fan running got it down to eighty-eight by midnight.
Gah.
