In my case the transience is a direct result of being a milbrat. Houses aren't homes, they're just places you live. Which is why I was kind of surprised that I'd invested so much emotionally in Pop's house.

But, whatever. I'm almost certain it's either on the market or already been sold by now, and even if my uncle manages to scrape together the cash to buy it it won't be at all the same. No deer head over the fireplace, no beat-up black leather chair, no two-hundred shelf-feet of books. No home.
