beavers and yardsale

uilos out to see the beavers at Pandapas pond last night. Two little ones squabbling over a waterlily root (they chirp when they get mad), a few bigger ones just drifting. One swam up to about twenty feet away, dived suddenly, and came up with a dirty white root that he held onto for gnawing. Very cool. (For those local and interested, there's one den on the far side of the pond right up on the shore, and another in the upstream section by the new boardwalk thing. The upstream section is where I've seen most of the beavers; I've usually been out to see them around early evening on into twilight.)
I'm kind of surprised that there've been no local newspaper articles on the beavers. It seems like the sort of thing that'd fill in a slow news day. Everyone likes small furry beasts, after all.
Got up too early this morning to sell some junk at the Shadowlake yardsale. Moved around $15 worth of stuff, which isn't too bad considering that 90% of it was priced at under a buck. Of course I also spent around $10, so it's not all that much of a win. The new acquisitions (six books, three CDs) take up less space at least. Most of the leftover yardsale stuff got boxed back up to be taken to the Y thrift store, where it will find a good home.
And now, sunburnt and probably a bit dehydrated and possibly slightly sunstruck, I go to lie down for a bit.
