I'm certain that everyone and his two kid brothers have already seen Planarity, so it's here more for my own reference than anything. (For those who've managed to avoid it thus far, it's a quite nifty little Flash game, more cerebral than the usual 'bat the penguin' or whatever.) (Found, in my case, via Crooked Timber.)

Get Rich Slowly! (via bOING bOING) is also more for my reference than anyone else's.

Survived Harry. It actually wasn't so bad this year; I missed the midnight rush, and there were plenty of people on hand Satyrday morning. For my own sake I'm glad we left them in the boxes; the wall of hideous green would have been just too much to stare at for two weeks.

Much thanks to the people (especially jlfranklin) who have been pointing me at various online resources for job and apartment hunting in NoVa and surrounds. Knowing that such things are actually out there to be hunted relieves a bit of the stress.

Heigh-ho. Off to Blake, and thence to staring at my attempts to explain what precisely $app.transverter does, in language that Mortgagefolk can understand.

For someone who doesn't want to go outside regularly because it's too hot or sunny or something, you've got a long ways to go before you're mad enough to run off to the beach randomly. Although I suppose you've got the biscuits-in-a-tin attitude down right.

Yeah, but the beach has water. Cool, refreshing, freezing-your-ass-off water. Also fishes.

Yes, but some of those fishes are jellyfishes, which sting. What's better is the river, which has fishes, water, and no jellyfishes.

Yeah, that's the problem. I don't know either.
I seriously don't care much where I work, and I'd prefer that where I live be closeish to where I work. I've got more people I'd want to hang out with on the Maryland side of the river these days, but that's only a very vague preference.

There's also the problem that a lot of apartment places want proof of employment before they'll rent to me, which is a problem if I'm job-hunting at the same time.

Oo. I forgot about that one. Yeah, most (probably) all places will want some kind of proof of income so they can do a credit check. The place I am in wants a letter from my employer or two pay stubs. I guess Blacksburg places don't do that because they let you have a co-signer to back you up and because college students generally don't have much income to provide proof of.

Ahhhh...good point. The whole leasing process can get quite sticky - mine requires an offer letter or paystubs supporting that I make three times the yearly rent, before taxes...which, of course, I didn't until six weeks ago.
