We got to court, and the slimy evil realtor guy gave us a check for the full amount. So we won, but we didn't get to call him a sleazeball in court.
Note to all who are renting: carry a tape recorder on your final walkthrough. If you can get the realtor to say "Yeah, this looks good to me" on tape they are obligated to give the full amount of your deposit back. And it's perfectly legal (in VA at least) to tape someone without their knowledge as long as the party doing the taping is involved in the conversation (ie, no wiretaps).

I keep logging in as anonymous, because I refuse to get another account somewhere that I won't use. Congrats on getting your deposit back from your creepy ex-landlord -- that's gotta be a weight off your mind. I know you've been working on that project for a while now.
