Where did you grow up? Um. Mostly Northern Virginia and Fayettehell, NC; I'm an Army brat and child of two native Arkansawyers.

Whaddya call:
* 1. A body of water, smaller than a river, contained within relatively narrow banks?

Creek.

* 2. The thing you push around the grocery store?
Cart.

* 3. A metal container to carry a meal in?
Lunchbox.

* 4. The thing that you cook bacon and eggs in?
Skillet.

* 5. The piece of furniture that seats three people?
Couch.

* 6. The device on the outside of the house that carries rain off the roof?
Gutter or drainpipe; not sure which you're asking for.

* 7. The covered area outside a house where people sit in the evening?
Porch.

* 8. Carbonated, sweetened, non-alcoholic beverages?
Soda. Often 'coke' as a generic term for the caramel-colored cola ones.

* 9. A flat, round breakfast food served with syrup?
Pancake. Mm, pancakes.

Sub.

* 11. The piece of clothing worn by men at the beach?
Swimming suit.

* 12. Shoes worn for sports?
Tennis shoes.

* 13. Putting a room in order?
Picking up.

Firefly. Rarely, lightning bug.

Roly-poly. Very rarely, pillbug or Iceland beetle.

Er. From the point, and I usually eat all the crust last.

A yard sale.

Dinner, in stark defiance of my grandmother's "breakfast, dinner, supper" rule.

* 20. The thing under a house where the furnace and perhaps a rec room are?
The basement.
