Six o'clock in the morning
You're the last to hear the warning
You've been trying to throw your arms around the world

I have never been out driving and not had someone else on the road with me. No matter how late or how early, there's always a few other cars. As I move through the predawn I get a sense of kinship with them all. I'm not the only one crazy enough to be going somewhere while the rest of the world sleeps.

Sunrise like a nosebleed
Your head hurts and you can't breathe
You been trying to throw your arms around the world

I see bits of sunsets all the time, but I've not sat through one in ages. There's no good place around here to watch the sun go down; it's behind mountains and houses and such. This morning, thanks to my east-facing backyard, I was given a glorious sunrise. The sky gradually lightened from faint pink to bright red, and just as I thought I'd missed the sun behind the clouds a touch of yellow appeared over the horizon.

Nothin' much to say I guess
Just the same as all the rest
Been tryin' to throw my arms around the world
