Typos are teh ridiculous. He did what?

Headline stupidity: in the words of Kenneth Hite, I could not make this up if I tried.

Friday I somehow overslept (must have set either my clock or my alarm wrong), managed to get out of the house with shower in under twenty minutes (good thing I packed Thursday evening), and pulled up to K's place not more than ten minutes late. We got on the road at around 10:30. Lunched at a rest stop in Cambridge featuring a gigantic sail for no readily apparent reason. Arrived at the refuge at 3:30ish, and spent the next couple hours talking to Emily the intern and various other interns who wandered in & out.

Then we went and walked on the beach for a bit. It was pleasantly cloudy, so there wasn't SUN and blindness and hot. After a few minutes it turned from cloudy to impressively foggy, to the extent that at all times the world simply ended fifty feet from where we were standing. This plus high tide plus the migration of the beach over where the marsh used to be meant that at one point we were walking along, wading in the water, and out of the fog ahead pillars started to appear... and then they resolved into dead standing trees in the water. Very cool. I deeply regret not having dragged my camera out.

All hail the sandpiper and ghost crab, creators and maintainers of all that we see.

Came back to the house, had dinner, watched Top Gun and Dirty Dancing, both for the first time for me. Yay eighties movies. Then stayed up talking to various interns for a few hours, then sleep.
